Nelnet Campus Commerce Monthly Payment Plans
This option allows you to pay your educational expenses in smaller, more manageable monthly installments.
To help you better manage your educational expenses, UVM has partnered with Nelnet Campus Commerce to offer a payment plan allowing you to spread your educational expenses over smaller monthly installments, paid over the course of the school semester. Your only cost is a $60 enrollment fee.

Managing Your Nelnet Campus Commerce Monthly Payment Plan and UVM Bill

Please review the following information regarding Nelnet Campus Commerce plans and how they relate to your UVM bill.
How does the plan work?
- Monthly payments will be a pre-scheduled, automatic payment withdrawal on the first of the month.
- Payments can be scheduled to come from an automatic bank payment (ACH) or a credit card.
- Your Nelnet Campus Commerce plan is set up for the payment plan amount you authorize. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the remaining balance owed after accounting for the Nelnet Campus Commerce plan is paid to UVM.
- Payment plans can only be set up to cover current semester charges; plans cannot be set up to cover any past due or prior semester charges.
- Prior to the semester bill being generated you can estimate your bill to set up your plan. Later, you can go in and make adjustments.
- Only one payment plan can be set up per semester. Multiple payment plans cannot be established.
How do I make sure I can set up a monthly payment plan?
- A parent or other person who intends to set up a monthly payment plan should request that the student set them up with Proxy Access through their myUVM account. Proxies who have been granted account and billing access will be able to view online the UVM student account, including bills, and will receive billing related communications. Only a Proxy or the student can establish a monthly payment plan.
How is the plan reflected on my student account?
- Your semester payment plan amount will initially show as a pending payment on your account.
- As actual payments are made to the plan, these will show on your account as a payment, and the pending plan will decrease as payments are made. It is important to review any remaining balance due or credit balance shown on the UVM account.
- Your monthly payment plan may be adjusted. If you need to make an adjustment to your plan, please do so through the student billing account.
What happens if my payment doesn't go through as scheduled?
- You will receive a notification of a failed payment from Nelnet Campus Commerce if this happens.
- A failed payment will be re-attempted on the 10th of the month.
- A failed payment will result in a $30 fee assessed by Nelnet Campus Commerce, plus a $23 fee assessed by UVM.
- After the second attempt if a payment still fails, your plan will be terminated with an option to resume. At this time a hold will be placed on the student's UVM account, blocking access to add courses, view grades, or get transcripts. This hold will be removed once the student's account has been brought current.
