The Academic Reorganization Working Group led by Dean David Jenemann and our colleagues in the Faculty Senate recommended that UVM seek consultation from an external group to help us understand how we are perceived by students who are applying to college, what draws them to UVM, and what could attract students who do not currently choose UVM. The Art and Science Group was selected for this consultative role, and Art and Science engaged with an advisory group representing different UVM constituencies over the course of the past year. The consulting group presented their findings at the recent Board of Trustees meeting as well as to the Academic Reorganization Working Group, Faculty Senate Executive Council, the Academic Leadership Council and the Associate Deans/DEI Leaders/Enrollment Management Leaders/Student Services Collaborative. The Provost’s Office will be working with the community to develop our next steps as we address the findings in the context of our Academic Success Goals; our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals; and our focus on integrative learning.
