Lesley-Ann Dupigny-Giroux, Ph.D., a faculty member in Geography and Geology at UVM and State Climatologist for Vermont, will serve as an author for the national Water chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5).

“I’m really honored and excited about the opportunity to bring my expertise in droughts, floods and ways of knowing to the Fifth National Climate Assessment effort,” said Dupigny-Giroux. “I look forward to building on the experiences that I gained during my prior NCA involvements in recent years.”

In 2016, Dupigny-Giroux was named regional lead of the northeast chapter of the Fourth National Climate Assessment.

Allison Crimmins, director of the Fifth National Climate Assessment for the U.S. Global Change Research Program, said Dupigny-Giroux’s experience and skillset make her an ideal participant. “Your selection as an author is a testament to your expertise in the field and standing among your peers,” Crimmins said.

The National Climate Assessment is the U.S. Government’s premier report on climate change impacts, risks, and adaptation across the nation. It is a Congressionally mandated, interagency effort that brings together hundreds of experts from federal, state, and local governments, as well as the academic, non-profit, and private sectors.
