Female representation among grand rounds speakers at a single academic center grew, but female faculty representation remained below the national average, according to research presented at the Power of Women in Medicine Summit.
“Meaningful progress toward gender equity is possible when institutions measure gender makeup and implement policies that support representation,” Hosna Mohabbat, a student in the Class of 2026 at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, told Healio. “Monitoring grand rounds speaker demographics, ensuring diverse selection committees, and fostering a culture of inclusion can help academic medicine move toward equity in leadership and representation.”
