As part of the upcoming transition to the Medicare Marketplace, please note an important change regarding prescription drug coverage:
Open prescriptions will NOT automatically transfer to your new prescription drug plan. This is different from previous group-to-group plan transitions at UVM where transfers occurred automatically.
What you need to do
- If you currently use mail order through Optum Rx: Contact your new prescription drug plan to learn about their mail order process. Then, reach out to your physician’s office to transfer prescriptions to the new mail order location.
- If you use mail order through a local pharmacy: After receiving your last 2025 order, call your pharmacy to update billing records with your new plan information.
- If you pick up prescriptions at a pharmacy: Please bring your new ID cards in with you in January.
Please note: While you shared your medication list with Via Benefits Advisors to ensure coverage at the best price, this does not transfer prescriptions to your new carrier.
Plan ahead
To avoid any interruption in your medication supply, we strongly recommend ensuring you have enough medication to carry you into early January.
Be on the lookout for ID cards from your new carrier. It can sometimes take up to 4-6 weeks for these cards to be sent, so if you have yet to enroll in coverage for 2026, we strongly recommend you schedule an appointment with a Via Benefits Advisor as soon as possible.
