Human Resource's Talent Development, in collaboration with the UVM Staff United (UVMSU) Professional Development Committee, is pleased to announce the launch of a new digital application for requesting UVMSU Professional Development Funds. This tool is designed to simplify the process for UVMSU-represented employees seeking support for professional development opportunities such as conferences, courses, and memberships.
While paper applications will continue to be accepted through October, use of the digital form is strongly encouraged to streamline approvals, disbursements, and reconciliation.
Key features of the new application include:
- Automated routing based on PeopleSoft hierarchy for supervisor and UVMSU committee approvals.
- Reduced manual data entry for employees, supervisors, and administrative staff.
- Faster processing and improved tracking of requests.
Supervisors will receive notifications via email for submissions from their direct reports and will also receive a copy of the award letter if funds are approved. Department business managers will likewise receive the award letter to assist with tracking and submitting reimbursements within 60 days of the activity.
A one-time permission is required to enable the app to accurately route requests using positional data for both applicants and supervisors. The application has been vetted by ETS and there are no privacy concerns associated with this access.
For full details, including eligibility, funding limits, reimbursement procedures, and access to both the paper and digital forms, please visit the UVMSU Professional Development Fund website. All inquiries and paper applications should be directed to uvmsu.pdfc@uvm.edu.
