On Thursday, September 19, President Marlene Tromp announced the recipients of the 2025 President’s Our Common Ground Staff Award. This award celebrates staff members who exemplify UVM’s core values of respect, integrity, innovation, openness, justice, and responsibility. Together, known as Our Common Ground, these aspirations guide the university community.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Genevieve Anthony, Assistant Dean for Business Operations, Honors College
  • Tim Bilodeau, Chief of Police, UVM Police Services
  • Lori Durieux, Business Manager, Family Medicine
  • Sharon Mone, Director, Office of Accessibility Services
  • Gail Shampnois, Director, Office of Student and Community Relations
  • Barbara Stewart, Administrative Coordinator, College of Arts and Sciences

The six recipients were celebrated at a breakfast at Alumni House, joined by their nominators, past awardees, and university leaders. Speakers included President Tromp, Provost Linda Schadler, and Staff Council President Jennifer Jorgenson. Each honoree was introduced by their nominator before receiving their award.

Since 2014, the Our Common Ground Staff Award has been recognized staff members who make a lasting impact of the UVM community. This year, more than 30 staff members were nominated. A review committee with representation from every college, school, and administrative unit on campus, including past award recipients, recommends finalists to the president, who selects the six recipients.

A call for 2026 nominations will be announced in the spring.
