BIO

Julia Esposito is a PhD student in the Food Systems graduate program at the University of Vermont and a Graduate Fellow at the Gund Institute. Her research focuses on how climate adaptation practices in commercial agriculture can stabilize production and improve food affordability in the United States.

Before coming to UVM, Julia worked for over three years as a research analyst at a government contracting firm based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. There, she examined the implementation of federal nutrition assistance programs including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Julia has authored multiple reports to the USDA Food and Nutrition Service as part of this work.

Julia holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies from Wellesley College. She hopes to combine her professional experience studying food policy with her academic training in the natural sciences to advance equitable and sustainable food access for all.
