The Fulbright Programs are wonderful opportunities that support faculty, scholars', and students' global initiatives.
The US Scholar Program makes available an array of opportunities to fund teaching, research, and conduct professional projects in over 130+ countries. A Fulbright can enable you to internationalize your research and teaching, ignite new ideas, advance your work by expanding your publishing network and enriching your teaching, and build lasting international collaborations and both formal or informal partnerships. Further, the award is a mark of distinction.
Fulbright's US student programs are supported by the FOUR office.
Since 2000, over 70 UVM faculty have been Fulbright US Scholar grantees. They conducted research, taught, and carried out professional projects around the world. Over the same period, UVM is pleased to have hosted over 30 Fulbright Visiting Scholars from numerous countries on our campus. These visiting scholars are also engaged in research and lecturing.
Fulbright opportunities are important avenues for building and sustaining international collaborations, and UVM Global is pleased to facilitate faculty success in leveraging these opportunities.
- Each fall semester, we host a reception for Fulbright awardees and prospective applicants on campus. We celebrate your work and connections, and we bring together faculty and scholars who can learn from your successes.
- Every spring semester, we host an online workshop about applying for a Fulbright.
- Throughout the year, both Dr. Jamie McGowan (Jamie.McGowan@uvm.edu), UVM Fulbright Liaison, and Dr. Brady Liss (Brady.Liss@uvm.edu) are available to meet with you or review your applications materials before submitting your application.
U.S. Scholars
For US Scholars, check out the upcoming Fulbright competitions.
Non U.S. Scholars
For non-US scholars, who want to be hosted as a US scholar at UVM, there are visiting scholar opportunities.
Note that non-US scholars will need to work with their UVM hosts to complete the Visiting Scholar/Scientist process.
U.S. Higher Education Institutions
Faculty at UVM can apply to host a scholar from outside of the United States to teach courses, assist in curriculum development, guest lecture, develop study abroad/exchange partnerships and engage with the campus and the local community to advance their internationalization goals. To apply for the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program, please coordinate with Jamie McGowan at UVM Global, so that she and the Office of Research Development can support your application process.
