We have been working on a number of data-driven tools and information portals around forest ecosystem health topics. We are offering a series of 30-minute webinars to introduce three of these tools to the Cooperative, and we hope you can join us! Registration links for each webinar are provided below.

The Vermont Forest Indicators Dashboard

August 30, 2018 (Thursday), 2:00-2:30 PM
View the dashboard at https://www.uvm.edu/femc/indicators
The Vermont Forest Indicators Dashboard grew from a working group coordinated at the 2015 Annual Conference of the Vermont Monitoring Cooperative, where participants highlighted the need for an easy-to-use interface for accessing, visualizing and interpreting complex data. This tool summarizes long-term trends in dozens of datasets, and provides a current-year score to capture the condition of Vermont’s forest ecosystem as well as provide long-term context for understanding changes in those conditions. During the webinar, we will provide an overview of how the dashboard was developed and what you can do with it.

The Northeastern Forest Health Atlas

September 19, 2018 ( Wednesday), 2:00-2:30 PM
The Northeastern Forest Health Atlas (NEFHA) is an online, interactive mapping platform to access data on forest health in the northeastern US. The purpose of the NEFHA is to provide information on short- and long-term changes in forest health and disturbance to researchers, managers, policy makers, and the general public, and access to the underlying data. NEFHA users can access nearly 100 years of aerial survey data and relevant research data, filter by damage agent, damage type, state, and year, as well as view graphs and tables of disturbance patterns over time and download maps and data. During the webinar, we will demonstrate key features of this tool and discuss the neat data sources that drive it.

The Northeast Forest Fragmentation Information Network (FragNet)

October 9, 2018 (Tuesday), 2:00-2:30 PM
The Northeast Forest Fragmentation Information Network (FragNet) is a clearinghouse of documents, data and information containing a wealth of resources for understanding and addressing forest fragmentation. Using FragNet, you can search for and explore resources from maps to legislation to scientific articles, access summaries of each resource highlighting important information, and download full texts, making it easier to find and access available information on forest fragmentation occurring within the Northeast. This webinar will introduce the content and search capabilities of FragNet.
