Project Overview

Stream sites were sampled for their fluvial geomorphology and physical habitat characteristics using the Rosgen Salmonid index to determine the quality habitat available for trout and invertebrates.

Objectives

-Evaluate the Rosgen Salmonid Index (RSI) for use in Catskill Mountain streams by measuring habitat characteristics across a range of stream conditions -Compare aquatic macroinvertebrate abundance from different stream reaches to their Invertebrate Habitat sub-index score. -Discuss the efficiency of incorporating the RSI into stream sampling protocols and the implications for stream restoration design.
