CAPS Wash-Line SOP

Lester Farm & Market

Approximate Acres in Production: 10-50

Summary

We have an automated wash station, consisting of a feed conveyor, soft bristle brushes with spray nozzles using well water, drying conveyor, and rotating sorting/grading table.

Steps

  1. Dunk/rinse SOP. Cukes, zukes, summer and winter squash, melons, etc. go through wash station.
  2. Tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers are spray rinsed as needed to remove field dirt: They are placed in a single layer in shallow red slotted trays and water is sprayed or run over them at one of our sinks. They are then air-dried, sorted, and packed.
