Founding Director, Professor Emeritus, (March 5, 1937 - November 3, 2011)

Carl Reidel was the director of the Environmental Program from 1972 to 1994. He was a member of the Environmental Program faculty from 1972 to 2000.

He was the Daniel Clark Sanders Emeritus Professor of Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, and Public Administration, and was vice president for Policy Studies at the New England Environmental Policy Center.
