PeopleAdmin: Basic

This session will provide an overview of the revamped PeopleAdmin mini-manual and how to use it. Participants will learn best practices for using PeopleAdmin effectively and efficiently.

PeopleAdmin: Performance Module- Basics

Overall Objectives

This session will provide an overview of the online performance review process for staff* performance reviews in PeopleAdmin. Participants will learn how to complete an online review and upload paper reviews in the performance management module.

PeopleSoft: Basics

Overall Objectives

The PeopleSoft Basics course will introduce users to UVM’s PeopleSoft Financial and HR Applications. Participants will learn basic terminology and skills such as navigating in the system, as well as basic employee and business manager functionality.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of UVM’s PeopleSoft systems including components/modules, terminology, and navigation
  • Gain awareness of various support resources such as user guides, Footprints, and classes
  • Gain awareness of available employee functionality, including entering time, expense reports, and employee self-service
  • Gain awareness of available business manager functionality, including reports and queries, journals, budget checking, reviewing time reporting, and requisitions and purchase orders

PeopleSoft: Travel Basics

Facilitator: Kyle Wentzel, Travel Team Lead, Disbursement Center.
Audience: All University travelers and administrators, especially those who create and submit their own expense reports in PeopleSoft

Overall Objectives

The Travel Basics course will inform University travelers of key points within the University's Travel Policy and highlight resources available to all travelers while enroute. Participants will also learn the step-by-step process and best practices for entering expense reports and other forms in PeopleSoft.

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of how to properly report expenses in PeopleSoft for reimbursement and develop an understanding of how the approval process works
  • Gain awareness of policies, procedures, and resources pertaining to University-sponsored travel
  • Gain awareness of best practices when submitting expenses to prevent processing delays
  • Understand where to find resources and user guides on expense report data entry

PurCard: Reallocation Process

Overall Objectives

This session is designed to show you how to reallocate UVM purchasing card expenses. We will also review the UVM Travel Policy and Procurement Policy as it pertains to allowable expenses on the PurCard.

Learning Outcomes

  • Must have responsibility for financial functions in Peoplesoft.
    • Utilize PeopleSoft to find PurCard journals
    • Explain PurCard expenses by adjusting chartstrings
    • Describe how to split expenses among multiple chartstrings
    • Describe how to submit, print and budget check PurCard journals

UVMClick New Proposal Creation and Completion of Funding Proposal Smartforms

Reports, queries and inquiries allow administrators to research and reconcile financial transactions encountered within their area of responsibility. The focus of this session is explore the PeopleSoft tools available for financial reporting. This session is designed to allow for hands on activities to learn how reports, inquiries, and queries work.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss reports, queries and inquiries related to the General Ledger and Commitment Control
  • Hands on practice setting up and running reports, inquiries, and queries.
  • List available inquiries and queries with a brief description of their use
  • Reinforce where and when to find financial data in PeopleSoft

Pre-Session Actions

Prerequisites: PeopleSoft Financial Reporting Part 1.  Come prepared to sign into PeopleSoft Finance, which requires dual-authentication and bring a chartstring or two to work with.

Overall Objectives

The course will introduce users to available functionality in UVM’s PeopleSoft Financial and HR Applications. Participants will learn skills such as personalization of homepages, workcenters, and pages as well as updating preferences and defaults.

  • Gain awareness of the various was to personalize PeopleSoft to meet your needs.
  • Gain awareness of the various tools available in PeopleSoft to streamline data processing.
