FreeTo clarify any possible confusion, there are two different opportunities for faculty to learn about teaching online:
- This page is about “TEO,” a 4-week online course that will be offered by the CTL in May.
- Alternatively, you may be looking for the Summer Online Boot Camp offered by Continuing and Distance Education .
Teaching Effectively Online is a 4-week online course (May 18 – June 14) that prepares faculty to teach online by exploring research-based best practices for designing courses, providing practical experience with a variety of tools, and perhaps most importantly, by providing faculty the change in perspective—teachers become students, a shift that is regularly described as game-changing.
Please read through the TEO-FAQs for more information about the course, including the time commitment and structure of the class.
Participating in TEO requires that you have a working knowledge of Blackboard (Bb) and can comfortably navigate a course space. You will have the Bb role of “student,” so do not worry if you are not an expert with the Bb instructor tools. If you’d like to learn more about the instructor-side of Blackboard, CTL has an overview of Teaching With Blackboard along with detailed Blackboard How-Tos.
For all TEO registrants, the Blackboard TEO space will be available on Friday, May 15th.

If you are interested in taking the course, please register below by May 11.
