BIO
With a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Vermont, Allison’s journey began at the Vermont Cancer Center, where she explored multidrug resistance in cancer cells. Transitioning to education, Allison earned a post-baccalaureate teaching license from UVM, launching a 25-year career teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Introduction to Forensics and Forensic Diagnostics, Human Cell Biology, Scientific Writing, and Hematology. She has been an active contributor to education through service on curriculum committees, work as an academic coordinator, and training instructors. Before teaching at UVM, Allison was honored to receive the CCV Teaching Excellence Award in 2013 and 2021, recognizing her commitment to student success. Allison’s approach to learning emphasizes adaptability, inclusivity, and teaching students mindful and effective study strategies that promote deeper understanding, self-awareness, and long-term retention. She continues to learn every semester and remains deeply fascinated by science, bringing curiosity and discovery into every classroom experience. Her goal is not only to teach content but to empower students to become confident, reflective, and independent learners.
