We are very pleased to announce that the UVM Lane Series is now a part of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Since 1955, following a generous gift from the Lane family, the Lane Series has sponsored a series of annual arts events, including classical music, early music, world music, film, theatre, jazz, and folk music. Each year the Lane Series brings a variety of internationally recognized artists to campus to not only perform, but to interact with our faculty, students, and staff through master classes, workshops, residencies, lectures, and receptions.
In past years the Lane Series operated under Continuing and Distance Education. Now that the program has been integrated into the College of Arts and Sciences, the Lane Series is in a position to more directly fulfill its mission as a supporter of arts education and outreach in our academic community. The Lane Series staff are now located in Southwick Music Complex, and we are working closely with them and faculty in the arts to derive maximum benefit from this new relationship.
We are grateful to the Lane Series staff and the Lane Board of Directors for their enthusiasm over joining the College and to Antonio Cepeda-Benito for his efforts in initiating the integration of the Lane Series into the College. We are also grateful to President Sullivan and Provost Rosowsky for their continued support of the arts and their support in making the move of the Lane Series to the College of Arts and Sciences a reality.
