Join Department of Theatre Professor Gregory Ramos on September 26 at 4:30 p.m. in Waterman's Memorial Lounge as he delivers the first CAS Full-Professor Lecture for the 2018-19 academic year titled "The Power of the Moment: Theatre Magic and Writing Love."

Ramos will discuss two areas of theatre art that set the scene for true theatrical magic. By looking at the historical influences on dramatic structure and true organic acting, he will address how theatre at its best is a personally transformative and spiritual experience for both performer and audience. He will discuss his own creative journey and his attempt to transmit true emotion through his writing and performances.

Ramos is Chair of the Department of Theatre. He teaches directing, playwriting and diversity in the U.S. American Theater. He has directed numerous professional and university productions. He performed his original solo plays, Border Stories and When We Danced at venues around the country. His plays A Visit from San Cristobal and Our Father’s House were performed at Company of Angels in Los Angeles. Cuentos de Josefina, his play for young audiences, is published by YouthPLAYS. Gregory studied acting at Playwrights Horizons and with Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn. He recently completed an intensive study of the Meisner acting method at the TRUE Acting Institute. Gregory is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
