Adriana Borra is a translator, lexicographer, and language instructor with a passion for Drama in Education.
Raised bilingually in German and Italian, she earned her M.A. from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 1994. Before joining the University of Vermont, she taught German and Italian at Ithaca College, the University of Freiburg, and private language schools in Germany and Italy.
She is the co-author of German through Film (Yale University Press, 2006) and has translated literary works between German, Italian, and French. Since 1995, she has worked as a lexicographer for the PONS Großwörterbuch Italienisch / Il dizionario di tedesco, contributing to all five editions, including the forthcoming 2026 edition. The dictionary contains over 386,000 entries and is available in print and digital formats. Adriana also contributed to the learner’s dictionary Il tedesco Junior and has published articles on lexicography and Italian language teaching.
She was recently featured in a 45-minute interview with Stephanie Tonneson for the podcast Sit on the Floor, discussing multilingualism and language teaching, available Whereever you listen to your Podcasts
