Torie has had a passion for food systems ever since learning about permaculture in the 5th grade. Torie grew up in Portland, Oregon and is entering the Food Systems Master's program on the accelerated track while finishing up their undergraduate studies this spring at UVM. Through pursuing a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Food Systems, Torie is keen to explore the interdisciplinary connections of Neuroscience and Food Systems. They are currently on the UVM women’s soccer team and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. They also work as a recess monitor at Rick Marcotte Elementary school and in their free time enjoys cooking, skiing, and hiking.
