Master's Student, Food Systems

Jenifer Morgan-Davie

BIO

Jen grew up in upstate New York, earned her bachelor's degree in biology and Flamenco dance in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and now calls the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont her home. Her love of food systems was forged on an upstate NY maple farm-turned-sheep dairy and honed through years following an incurable wanderlust across three continents, gardening and volunteering with smallholder farmers, and soaking up knowledge from far-flung food systems. As a grad student at UVM, she is working to develop a theoretical and skills-based toolkit for development and implementation of holistic climate resilient agricultural strategies. Drawing from her work and travel experiences and her background as a rabid fiber artist, she is particularly keen on exploring the agroecology of resilient mountain food systems and integrating food and fiber production systems for climate neutral textiles. While she completes her masters, she is also pulling double duty living and choring on a local sheep farm.

Jen is an avid reader, musician, dancer, cyclist, and – when no other forms of exercise are available – runner. She recently completed a bikepacking trip across the Iberian peninsula, which she will talk about at length at the slightest provocation. She loves to be outside and is very keen on mushrooming and the Oxford comma.
