Interim Director of the Food Systems Graduate Program and Associate Professor of Anthropology Teresa Mares and PhD student Brendan O'Neill recently published the latest Cultivating Comida column in the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development. In their article, "A New Day for Dairy," Mares and O'Neill discuss the Milk with Dignity program, an extension of the worker-drive social responsiblity model (WSR) used by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), and its use in the dairy industry. This model is unique in that it prioritizes worker-defined needs and acknowledges and embraces farmworker expertise.
