Sara Timmerman brings more than 26 years of distinguished experience in public accounting, having served roles at both KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), she is recognized for her leadership, innovation, and deep expertise in the higher education sector.
Sara recently led audit transformation initiatives at KPMG, modernizing methodologies, and integrating new technologies to enhance audit quality and efficiency. She has extensive expertise in higher education, Government Auditing Standards, and Uniform Guidance, with significant experience managing complex audits and presenting to senior leadership and audit committees
Sara is no stranger to the University of Vermont, having worked with the institution as a client during her tenure at KPMG. Throughout her career, she has managed large, diverse audit teams and overseen complex engagements across higher education, insurance, and nonprofit sectors.
A Vermont CPA and long-time resident, Sara is a member of the Vermont Society of CPAs, the AICPA and a graduate of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Champlain program.
