Academic Program Review (APR)

Academic Program Review (APR) is a cyclical process for evaluating and continuously enhancing the quality and currency of academic programs.

The evaluation is conducted through a process of self-evaluation, followed by peer-evaluation by reviewers external to the program or department, and usually also external to the organization. APR operates on a nominal eight-year cycle and is conducted through the Faculty Senate’s Curricular Affairs Committee (CAC) in partnership with the Office of the Provost.

Program(s) scheduled for review will be notified a year in advance of the self-study report due date. An initial meeting will be scheduled following notification to orient program representatives to the new APR system; to discuss the program-specific data set that the Office of Institutional Research will be sending for use in preparing the self-study report; and to address any questions or concerns.
