Biography of Vice President for Enrollment Management
Stacey Kostell was appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management at the University of Vermont in September 2014. She develops and directs the University’s undergraduate recruitment and enrollment strategies, and coordinates functions and activities targeting undergraduate retention.
Prior to coming to UVM, Stacey was the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at the University of Illinois. She was instrumental in developing a robust admissions and enrollment management approach, including the extensive use of social media for recruiting, an area where Illinois is now a national leader. Under her leadership applications increased 51 percent and the average SAT of new freshmen increased by over 70 points. She also grew transfer enrollment by 50 percent.
Her 20 year career in higher education has also included positions at Arizona State University and Purdue University. Stacey currently serves on the College Board Colloquium Planning Committee and is a member of the Association of Chief Admissions Officers at Public Universities, the American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers, and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling. She presents frequently at national, regional and state meetings on such topics as marketing and social media, recruitment strategy, and ethical admissions practices.
