Dr. Jane Hill – What Happens When Bacteria Go to Mars?

Jane Hill, professor in the School of Engineering at the UVM College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS), was recently funded by NASA to study the impact of space on pathogenic bacteria. Here she describes why this research matters. Read the video transcript



Research on bacteria by Dr. Hill will be featured on the Vermont Public Television series "Emerging Science." Hill is part of the "Food Pathogens" episode that airs Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 9 pm, and Sunday February 21, 2010 at 1 pm.

In August 2009, Dr. Hill was funded by NASA to study the impact of space on pathogenic bacteria. The award was featured in the Burlington Free Press. Her work has also been written up in the Boston Globe and other outlets.
