National Robotics Week at UVM

UVM CEMS will exhibit some very cool robots on April 10, 2013 in Votey 122 from 1 to 3 pm. as part of National Robotics Week. On display will be innovative robotic designs that include: R Robot, quadcopter, lynxmotion hexapod with concrete climbing sucker feet, as well as other robots.

This new robotics cxhibition comes on the heels of FIRST at UVM where hundreds of students, from seventh to 12th grade, built and programed robots to cooperate with and to compete against other robots in a game of tic-tac-toe ring toss in the UVM Davis Center in February 2013.

"The robots on exhibit have been created at UVM to perform specific tasks," said Doug Dickey, one of the UVM FIRST tournament's organizers and an assistant dean of UVM'sCollege of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. "Our goal is to continue to provide students a great variety of opportunities within higher education."

This is the first year that Vermont will join with other states in participating in the National Robotics Week designed to increase interest in STEM education and to create a general awareness about the robotics industry.
