Bridge engineering is one of the fields of research for Dryver Huston, professor of engineering in UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS). Huston's expertise was featured in two WCAX-TV Channel 3 interviews concerning demolition and reconstruction of the Champlain Bridge at Chimney Point, Vermont. The abrupt closure of the bridge after inspection deemed it vulnerable to sudden collapse has disrupted the lives of thousands of commuters, threatening farms and businesses on both sides of the lake.
