Digital Simulations for Improving EducationA new book, Digital Simulations for Improving Education: Learning Through Artificial Teaching Environments, is now available through IGI Global. Edited by Dr. David Gibson of UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS) and Youngkyun Baek of Korea National University of Education, Korea, the book explores artificial instructional games and simulations that offer practice in specific teaching skills and present learning situations to strengthen educator instincts and intuitions about best practices.

An essential resource for teachers, educational technologists and simulation developers, the book focuses on research and current trends used in digital simulations of teaching, surveying the uses of games and simulations in teacher education. This resource is an aid for solving problems in teaching and learning through introduction of the potential and benefits of practice with digital simulations.

"Over half of today's teens play digital games every day, and 64% of teens state they play digital games regularly; teacher education programs need to include games and simulations," Dr. Gibson says.
