Grand View Winery, located in East Calais, Vermont, is a family operation. Phil, the wine maker, began dabbling in wines for fun 30 years ago. In 1996 he started the winery in our barn. Two years later we acquired the house next door and moved the production and retail there. The following year we opened a retail/tasting room at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. It's open year round.
Most of the fruits are grown at the winery or purchased locally. We focus on fruits that grow easily in Vermont. Our fruit wines are not overly sweet. Limiting the sweetness brings out more of the natural flavors of the specific fruit. All wines are aged at least a year with the red grape two years. We use no oak barrels or oak chips to avoid masking the true flavors.
Come off the beaten path. Enjoy our rural setting with
50-mile views. Bring a lunch to enjoy with a selected wine sitting outside
soaking up the views, flower gardens, and tranquility. Tour the winery
and learn about wine making and taste the award winning results.
