Education : Workshops

The New Farmer Project schedules workshops throughout the year and around the state. We frequently co-sponsor workshops with other organizations.. A good way to see what is coming up is to keep an eye on the New Farmer Project calendar.

Recent New Farmer Project Workshops

Chainsaws 101

Co-sponsored by the Women's Agricultural Network (WAgN) and the UVM Extension New Farmer Project

New and aspiring farmers learned how to to use and maintain chainsaws safely at two "Chainsaws 101" workshops. Topics included saw sharpening, choosing the right saw for the job, and basic chainsaw safety and use. Those who wanted to also had hands-on time cutting logs. You can view photos and find out more about the day at the Farm Safe VT blog.

Tractors 101

Using and maintaining tractors safely was the focus of two "Tractors 101" workshops in Randolph and Montpelier this spring. Participants also learned about purchasing new and used equipment, and got some hands-on time driving tractors
