This Initial Conference sought to orient and recruit a team for the MOORE PROJECT
The Ecosystem Services Project established three desired major outcomes:
• Outcome 1. A suite of dynamic ecological economic computer models specifically aimed at integrating our understanding of ecosystem functioning, ecosystem services, and human well-being across a range of spatial scales.
• Outcome 2. Development and application of new valuation techniques adapted to the public goods nature of most ecosystem services and integrated with the modeling work.
• Outcome 3. Delivery of the integrated models and their results to a broad range of potential users.
This second conference of experts from around the world were committed partners in the MIMES initiative with the following goals
To direct an emphasis towards measuring, modeling, and valuing ecosystem services.
To make the concept of ecosystem services operational, and applicable to the policy making process.
