My research interests consist of 1) the human dimensions of coastal change; 2) community-based analysis of environmental and economic changes; and 3) integration of social and natural sciences in human-environment research. My research projects include coastal use change in the Yellow Sea region and the west coast of the U.S., coastal eutrophication, estuary management, and adaptive management, Moore Foundation-funded ecosystem services workshops, and methodological advances in modeling human-environment interactions.
