Purpose: Gather key players to develop a common vision, terms of reference, preferred lines of action and methodologies to synergize the contributions of government, business, academia and the community in their efforts to enhance development and the environment of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountain region.
Outcome: A coherent vision of the status of natural resources management and challenges and driving forces for environmentally-sound community development, and well-grounded policy recommendations promoting SFM. One of the proposed outcomes will be the presentation and analysis of a Draft White Paper for SFM in Ukrainian Carpathian Mountain region in the framework of the Carpathian Convention.
The integration of the scientific findings and expert contributions into decision making process, harmonizing contradictive stakeholders’ interests for achieving sustainable development goals.
Factors for consideration: Stakeholders’ preferences, attitudes, and values regarding ecosystem services, legal and policy dimensions of sustainable forest management, optimal forest land use and property rights, social-economic surveys, community involvement into decision making process, as well as Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis.
