Azur Moulaert is a Fellow of the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security, an Affiliate of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics, Director of Business Operations & Strategic Partnerships for Earth Economics, Adjunct Faculty at the University for International Cooperation in Costa Rica, and a board member of the Fundacion Neotropica in Costa Rica and Gross National Happiness,USA. Azur's core interest is using ecological economics arguments to bring about change in the field, as well as promote technological, institutional and conceptual changes for sustainable development. His work focuses on the integration of ecosystem services with participatory modeling, data collection, valuation, and outreach. Azur was previously a Research Associate for Community Development and Applied Economics at the University of Vermont where he specialized in ecological economics, payments for ecosystem services, and public communication. His professional experience includes: Ecosystem Services Project Manager at the Gund Institute of Ecological Economics, Envision Program Manager at the Vermont Department of Health, and National Grassroots Director (then Coastal Resources Analyst) at Environmental Defense. Azur leads fundraising efforts, strategic planning, and business development; maintains and develops strategic partnerships with national and international partners; and assists communications and general outreach for Earth Economics. Azur also oversees initiatives and projects in Latin America, the Caribbean and South America.
