Azur Moulaert works with the Vermont Caribbean Institute (VCI) as a Program Manager. Azur was previously a Research Associate for Community Development and Applied Economics at the University of Vermont (UVM) specializing in ecological economics, payments for ecosystem services and strategic communications. Azur received a BS in Forest Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica (1992) and a Master's degree in Crop Science and Forestry from North Carolina State University (1996). Azur's professional experience also includes: Ecosystem Services Project Manager at Gund Institute of Ecological Economics at UVM, Envision Program Manager at the Vermont Department of Health, and National Grassroots Director then Coastal Resources Analyst at Environmental Defense. At VCI Azur conducts research and compiles information; drafts reports, proposals, and correspondence; maintains databases, website and social media sites, conducts public relations and promotional appeals; coordinates travel and special events and handles support tasks. He also provides management and oversight to special programs in conjunction with the Executive Director. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of Fundación Neotrópica, Gross National Happiness USA, is a fellow with the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security and an affiliate with the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics - both at UVM.
