Pooja was born and raised in the Midwest and began her academic career at the University of Iowa with a B.Sc. in Geography/Environmental Studies. Her thesis focused on water supply and water quality issues in a district of South India. She worked for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in the Water Quality Division for about a year prior to moving out East. Pooja completed her MS at Antioch University New England in Resource Management and Administration, narrowing her thesis focus to rainwater harvesting in a small remote village in South India, examining the quality of the harvested water and its correlation with the degree of community participation and the structures. She also conducted research in micro watersheds through out New England and examined infrastructure (culverts) and water quality indicators (macro invertebrates). She then worked for a year at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) with the Water Resources Research Center coordinating various projects for the state (Acid Rain Monitoring, Connecticut River Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Project, Environmental Analysis Lab, etc.). In her spare time Pooja has a strong passion for music, Indian culture, cooking, games, and fun!
