Alicia's areas of expertise include ecology, ecosystem services, conservation, disease dynamics, and landscape ecology with an emphasis on using statistical and modeling techniques to explore the links between ecosystems and human health.

Alicia's current research focuses on the contribution of pollination to nutritional diseases in developing countries, the effects of protected areas and water pollution on human health, and the effects of conservation policies on bushmeat consumption, wildlife population dynamics, and nutritional diseases. She received her Ph.D. in ecology and evolution at Dartmouth College and conducted post-doctoral research on mosquito-borne diseases at UC Davis and the Research and Policy for Infectious Disease Dynamics (RAPIDD) program at the National Institutes of Health. She is currently a post-doctoral associate at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at the University of Vermont. Her post is part of the HEAL consortium and is funded by the Moore Foundation.
