Kids Can Explore Science at Lyndonville 4-H Day Camp

Lyndonville--Calling all amateur scientists. If you are in Grades 5-7 and interested in learning about aerodynamics, civil engineering and space geology, register now for 4-H Super Science Summer Camp in Lyndonville.

The day camp, which is free, is sponsored by University of Extension and the Vermont 4-H Military Partnership. It will be held July 22-24 at the Lyndon Town School (2591 Lily Pond Rd.) from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily. Snacks will be provided.

Participation is limited to the first 10 kids to sign up, so early registration is advised. Registration closes July 19 or when all spaces are filled.

Please contact Freddie Losambe, AmeriCorps--Northeast Kingdom Initiative member, at (802) 751-8307, ext. 364, or by e-mail at olosambe@uvm.edu to register or for more information. To request a disability-related accommodation to participate, call by July 17.

At camp you will study aerodynamics by constructing homemade air balloons, bottle rockets and hovercrafts, among other projects. In the civil engineering session, you will work in teams to build the tallest building, create a newspaper dome, drop an egg safely from a given height and solve other engineering challenges.

Want to discover what it's like to be a space geologist? Through experiments and other fun activities you'll learn about moon rocks and other fascinating geological features of the solar system.

Questions? Call (802) 751-8307, ext. 364.
