Parking assignments for the University Commencement Ceremony and each college or school celebration are designated below. Please view the Commencement Parking Map (PDF) for reference. Shuttle buses will bring guests to and from all commencement events.

Please respect our neighbors. Parking on area residential streets is by city-issued permit only. Violators will be subject to City of Burlington policy of ticketing and towing vehicles parked in these areas.

Accessible Parking is available at the College Street lot, Jeffords lot, and Gutterson lot and at the Gutterson Garage.

  • Agriculture and Life Sciences - Gutterson Garage and Parking Lot (Lot A)
  • Arts and Sciences -  Jeffords & Given Lots (Lot C)
  • Grossman School of Business - College Street Garage adjacent to the Hilton Burlington Hotel (free on Sunday)
  • Education and Social Services - College Street Garage adjacent to the Hilton Burlington Hotel (free on Sunday)
  • Engineering and Mathematical Sciences - Harris/Millis and Marsh, Austin, Tupper (MAT) Lots (Lot B)
  • Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources - Wing Davis Simpson (Lot D)
  • Graduate College - Saturday, Gutterson Garage and Parking Lot (Lot A); Sunday, please park in the lot designated for your school or college
  • Honors College - Saturday, Jeffords & Given Lots (Lot C); Sunday, please park in the lot designated for your school or college
  • Larner College of Medicine - UHC Lot (Lot E)
  • Nursing and Health Sciences - DoubleTree Hotel Lot (Lot F) (Enter at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Burlington and follow signage)
Street Closings

Friday, May 17, 7:00 a.m. through Monday, May 20, 4:00 p.m., University Place will be closed from Colchester Avenue to Main Street.

South Prospect Street will be closed from College Street to the University Health Center entrance starting at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 17.  We will make every effort to re-open the street as quickly as possible, but it may be as late as 9:00 pm on Sunday, May 19 before the street reopens.

In addition, on Sunday, May 19, from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., South Prospect Street will be closed from Colchester Avenue to Main Street, and College Street will be closed from South Prospect Street to South Williams Street. The northern most west bound lane on Main Street from University Heights Road to South Prospect Street will also be closed.

Saturday, May 18, 2024

1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Shuttle bus service will be available between the Jeffords Lot, Ira Allen Chapel and Davis Center Oval for the Leahy Honors College Scholars Recognition and Reception.

Sunday, May 19, 2024

7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Shuttle buses will run every 10-15 minutes from designated bus stops at Patrick Gym, Royall Tyler Theatre, DoubleTree Hotel, the Jeffords Lot/Davis Center Oval, and the Wing and Davis lot on Redstone campus. Look for Commencement Shuttle signage at each stop.

For celebrations at The Flynn, a dedicated shuttle will run between The Flynn, Hilton Burlington Hotel (main entrance on Battery Street), and Allen House (on UVM’s campus) from 7:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. Students and families attending the Grossman School of Business (GSB) and College of Education and Social Services (CESS) celebrations, on Sunday, May 19, are encouraged to park downtown and take the shuttle to campus for the University Commencement Ceremony on Sunday morning, and then to the Flynn for the college/school celebrations and Hilton Burlington Hotel for the receptions. We recommend that you park where you plan to end up following your ceremony or reception.

For the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) reception on Sunday, May 19, a shuttle will be available looping from the raceway at Patrick Gym Oval (see map) to Simpson Dining Hall starting at 1:30 pm and running continuously until the end of the reception at 3:30 pm.  Note: the reception will be held before the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Celebration. 

For the Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) reception on Sunday, May 19, a shuttle bus will be available from Ira Allen Chapel to the Davis Center following the Larner College of Medicine Ceremony for the reception. The shuttle will run from the Davis Center returning guests to the UHC parking lot until 7:00 p.m.

For the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) celebration on Sunday, May 19, shuttles will be available looping from the DoubleTree Hotel parking lot to Gutterson, as well as from Gutterson to the reception at Central Campus Dining Hall following the celebration (the shuttle drop off will be at Royall Tyler Theatre). Shuttle buses will also be available from Central Campus Dining directly to the DoubleTree hotel parking lot looping until the end of the reception at 3:00 pm.

For the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (RSENR) celebration on Sunday, May 19, shuttles will be available looping from the Wing, Davis and Simpson lots to Patrick Gymnasium, as well as from the raceway at Patrick Gym Oval (see map) from the reception at Harris Millis Dining Hall to the Wing, Davis, and Simpson lots until the end of the reception at 3:00 pm.
