Advisory Board

Advisory Board

In order to gain insight from industry leaders, elected officials, students and Vermonters, the Dean of CALS has appointed an advisory board which meets twice a year to provide feedback and advice. In addition, they review the College Strategic Plan and provide information on future trends of agriculture and life sciences. They are an invaluable source of counsel to the Dean and usually serve a three year term.

Tom Berry Tom Berry, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy's lead Vermont staffer on agricultural and natural resource issues.
Megan Camp Megan Camp, Shelburne Farms vice president and program director.
Tricia Coates Patricia “Tricia” Coates, State director for U.S. Congressman Peter Welch, former staffer of U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy's agriculture committee and a former history teacher.
Cynthia Danaher Cynthia Danaher, of Winchester, Massachusetts is a former Vice President and General Manager of the Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group. She is a CALS alumna (class of 1980).
David Dunn David Dunn has led a variety of customer focused projects at Green Mountain Power, including the GMP Cow Power program. Dave's experience over the last 23 years at GMP in Rutland, Vermont, has focused energy efficiency and renewable energy as it pertains to agriculture, with a degree in Animal Science from another CALS program at a University in the Northeast (Cornell 1984).
Robert Foster Robert Foster, Co-owner of Vermont Natural Ag Products makers of Moo Doo and dairy farmer at Foster Brothers Farm in Middlebury, Vermont, which pioneered on-farm electrical power generation.
Leon Graves Leon Graves, of Marcellus, New York, is Vice President of Dairy Marketing Services New England and General Manager for Empire Livestock. Leon is a '73 CALS graduate, and formerly held positions as Vermont's Commissioner of Agriculture and former Vermont Senator and Representative.
Pat Heffernan Pat Heffernan of Shelburne, Vt is co-owner of Marketing Partners. She served as the founding president of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) and Women Business Owners Network (WBON).
Peter Karnezos Peter Karnezos, of Colchester, Vermont, is Chair of the University of Vermont, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Board of Advisors and is Director of Research and Technical Services of Purina Nutritional Additives.
Krystina Kattermann Krystina Kattermann, from Sussex County, New Jersey, is a junior in CALS at UVM with a major in Microbiology and a minor in Molecular Genetics. She is the treasurer for UVM's club swim team, participates in undergraduate research in Dr. Susan Wallace's lab, and works downtown at a restaurant as a barista.
Meghan McKeown Meghan McKeown,, University of Vermont, Plant Biology Ph.D. student who received her bachelor degree in biology from Carroll College, Helena, Montana.
Jenny Nelson Jenny Nelson, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders staffer and Ryegate, Vermont dairy farmer.
Robert Paquin Robert Paquin, Vermont executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency and former long-time staff assistant to U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy.
Chuck Ross Chuck Ross, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, farmer and former state director for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy.
Robert Ullrich Robert Ullrich, University of Vermont botany professor emeritus and former director of UVM's biological sciences program.
