A
Note from Staff Council President Karmen Swim
Another semester has started here at the
University and I hope this Staffline finds each of you
healthy, happy and enjoying our Vermont winter…however
that looks for you!
It
is certainly a busy and exciting time. The
leadership roles for myself and Bethany Wolfe, Staff
Council Vice President, will be ending this summer.
An Officers’ Election will be launched in March for our
successors. We are also preparing to reach out to those
units and colleges where we have Staff Council
Representative vacancies for the upcoming term. So,
now is a great opportunity to get involved in Staff
Council! Keep your eyes open for recruitment materials or
get in touch with the Staff Council Office if you have
questions. Continue reading...

Spotlight on
Benefits: Hearing Aid Assessments and Discounts
Did you know
that you have access to a hearing aid program
benefiting current and retired UVM faculty and
staff? UVM’s Department of Communication
Sciences & Disorders and Human Resources have
collaborated to provide reduced prices on hearing aids
for those who need them. This benefit is
provided by the Department’s on-campus hearing clinic,
the Eleanor M. Luse Center for Communication.
This Center has been on-campus for over 30 years – its
purpose is to educate the next generation of
professionals and also to serve the community by
providing comprehensive hearing diagnostic and
treatment services. For more information about this
program and the hearing aid benefit, see details here.
Services are provided by University
faculty and staff who are nationally certified and state
licensed audiologists, experts in their field. As
a non-profit organization that is a part of UVM, all
recommendations provided for treatment are unbiased and
focused on listening needs, not on making a profit by
selling a device.
This program is available to
current and retired faculty and staff and
also to family members who have the UVM BCBS insurance.
For more information about the Eleanor M. Luse Center
for Communication, call (802) 656-3861 or visit the Luse
Center website.
