Next came college. I filled out applications for several schools. I told my parents if they tried to make me go to the University of Vermont I wouldn’t go to college at all. I don’t even remember filling out an application for the University of Vermont. I spent my four years of college at…the University of Vermont. I was very lucky to go to college—I have no idea why I was such a brat. Oh yeah, I do. I was a teenager.

I loved UVM. I met tons of people, had a gorgeous campus but again took NO art courses. I thought about it but they were extremely hard to get into if you were not an art major. I majored in Business. Not even CLOSE to art. I did, however, load my schedule with things like Biology, Archeology and every English course I could possibly take. It was a hard, but fun, 4 years. I cannot imagine not having that experience. But, boy was I ready to get out of Vermont.

After college I took jobs as they came to me—what paid ok and challenged me. I wont bore you with my whole job history – I will skip ahead to the present. I now work at…. you guessed it…the University of Vermont in VERMONT. I guess it is time to admit I love it here!!

Almost two years ago though I started to notice I was getting bored. Don’t get me wrong—I loved my job and I loved my friends and my dogs kept me busy but I definitely needed more. Something new. I had no idea what. I started cooking and experimenting with new dishes, I taught myself to sew and bought myself a kayak to take advantage of the gorgeous lake in front of my house. I also found myself spending more time on the computer surfing the web. I came across a website one night that really inspired me. TODDMARRONE.COM . Here was a guy that was about my age, seemed to have a great sense of humor and I LOVED his work! I cannot describe it to you. Go to his site—check it out yourself—he is a genius. His work looked like so much FUN! Why couldn’t drawing be that much fun for me??
