Update: this is an old crusty page. Two things I have been recently updating are my crafts page and my kids' web pages. Honestly, that's about all I have time for these days..
I attended Champlain Valley Union high school for my junior and senior years. Before that, I went to Foxboro High School, in Foxboro, Mass. I was a member of the Outdoor Club there, which kept me sane. If you want to know more about me, here's a short autobiography. Here is a list of things that I like, that I just suddenly felt like making... :-) Here is a list of some of my hobbies and interests..
I compiled a list of Vermont related links,
inspired by the list in our local phone book. It's not complete, of
course, but it's a start. For more VT information, check out Senator Leahy's page, it's
quite impressive.
My husband Mike Austin and I bought a house in Jericho in the spring
of 1998. We love it there, and are never moving again. Ever! Yay! In
the summer of 1998, I took a few pictures of some of
the perennials growing in our garden (they were there when we moved
there), and some pictures of a creek running through the front of our
property.
Here is an analysis of my name Jessica, by the Kabalarians. It's about 80% right.. Here is their analysis of Jess, which is where the other 20% or so ended up. Don't ask me for an analysis of Jessie, unless you really want to see me mad! :-)
Here are a couple of non-research related things that I have produced, including some humble poems, and a children's story that you can actually read on-line.
I enjoy learning about almost everything, and usually pick up on things pretty quickly. Being a perfectionist though, I've always had a problem finishing things.. This cartoon pretty much sums up the way my school life went.
I used to work as a consultant in the Waterman computer lab, and on the CIT (computer) helpline. I was partially in charge of training/tutoring new counselors. This is an outline that I produced, that I think it is important that new counselors know about. It is in a more palatable form off of the counselors' home page, which I used to maintain. As of 12/4/95, I came to work in the Biochemistry department at UVM, in the NMR facility, with/for a new professor, Barbara Lyons. So far I am having an excellent time.
Since I wrote the above paragraph, I went back to work for CIT doing desktop computer support, web page development, unix stuff and various other things, decided to have a baby, and now "stay home" raising our two kids!
This is my newspaper, which I created at Crayon (CReAte Your Own Newspaper), a very cool web site.
If you've forgotten what time it is, and you're somewhere on the east coast of the US (or in our little elite time zone), or if you want to know what time I think it is in this little strip of land, I'll tell you. (note: this is broken. Blame Mike).
I like to go hiking and camping and that sort of thing.
I also enjoy going to the Unitarian Universalist Church here in Burlington, VT.
I've been involved in several research projects, and this is a collection of random informal descriptions of the ones I remember... hopefully it's not detailed enough to worry anyone I've worked with. It might even be a bit entertaining, if not interesting, although it's not a particularly well-done or professional-looking compilation.
Here's a list of pop/rock/etc. musicians and groups whom I like - I'm sure I've forgotten quite a few...
Here's a list of authors, poets, writers, etc. who I have enjoyed reading and have been influenced by. I'm sure there are many I've forgotten..
Here's a list of quotes I've found funny, meaningful, or amusing, or for some other reason worthy of posting here.
Here is a link to some Jokes, which doesn't belong on this page at all, but oh well.
Here are some images I've collected.
Here is a great story (I didn't write it).
Here is some silly stuff.
Some of my favorite places...
