Bob Corran, associate vice president and director of athletics at the University of Vermont, was honored by his alma mater, Ithaca College, with induction into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Oct. 10, 2014 at Emerson Suites.

Corran, a 1971 graduate of Ithaca, was honored for his excellence in athletics administration. Corran was a varsity athlete for the Bombers in ice hockey, lacrosse and football and also played freshmen soccer.

As an athletic administrator and coach for more than 40 years, Corran has impacted the lives of student-athletes at several institutions during his career.

Corran served as the athletic director at the University of Calgary for 12 years. Under his leadership Calgary won 53 conference titles and 23 national championships. While in Canada, he also served as president of the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union and on the executive committee for the Calgary Olympics in 1988.

Corran also spent six years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth as the athletic director. During his tenure at UMD, the Bulldogs won 58 conference titles and three NCAA Championships.

In 2003, Corran left Minnesota-Duluth to become the eighth athletic director at the University of Vermont. In 2008, the title of associate vice president at UVM was added his position. Since arriving in Burlington, Corran has been instrumental in helping change the culture of UVM's athletic department. The Catamounts have won seven America East Academic Cups while steadily rising in the league's Commissioner's Cup standings.

During his 11 years at UVM, Corran has engineered Vermont's move to Hockey East; implemented a comprehensive plan to boost coaches' salaries; expanded student-athlete services and enhanced the athletic performance unit; created the Victory Club, a department-wide fundraising vehicle; and restructured the department through a strategic planning process involving coaches, staff and student-athletes.

Corran has also overseen the renovation and/or construction of several athletic facilities including: renovation of space in the Patrick Gymnasium complex to create the UVM Strength & Conditioning Center; upgrading the UVM Academic Center in Patrick Gymnasium; renovations in Gutterson Fieldhouse; the construction of Moulton Winder Field, the Frank H. Livak Track and Field Facility and Virtue Field; as well as the renovation of indoor space in Patrick Gymnasium into an indoor turf practice facility.

Vermont teams have consistently ranked above the national average in several sports in the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) and several teams have earned public recognition from the NCAA for earning perfect scores. The department has also earned its top-two finishes in the final standings of the U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup in the program's history under Corran's direction.
