Section Description

This course introduces students to the inquiry process of expressive arts in counseling, education, and social work as an exploratory process for self-discovery and collective experiences. Emphasis will be placed on the creative process through a variety of expressive arts modalities. In addition to classroom discussion, group sessions will invite opportunities for intermodal engagement to gain deeper understanding of theory and practical application of expressive arts within a culturally responsive and ethical framework. This course is experiential in nature and will focus on students deepening access to their creative selves.

Section Expectation

In addition to asynchronous learning that will include readings, artmaking, and deep exploration, students are responsible for attending a three-day in-person seminar (May 30 – June 1) where they will actively engage in self-discovery and collaboration that draws from intermodal expressive arts experiences.
