Class meets synchronously weeks 1 & 4 on Wednesdays 9am-12pm and weeks 2 and 3 are asynchronous.

Section Description

Recognizing mentoring as a form of teacher leadership, this course aims to build on practicing educators’ competencies as educators and support them in their mentorship of pre-service and beginning in-service educators. The course will support educators in: -Developing trusting professional relationships with mentees -Communicating and providing feedback -Meeting mentees where they are in their growth as educators -Building capacity through modeling and coteaching -Engaging in inquiry around a problem of practice or topic of interest related to mentoring

Section Expectation

This 1-credit course will be offered during the 3rd summer session (July 14 - August 8). During weeks 1 and 4, the course will meet synchronously online on Wednesdays (July 16 and August 6) from 9am - 12pm. Weeks 2 and 3 will involve asynchronous work.

Evaluation

Evaluation will be based on attendance and participation, weekly assignments, and a final inquiry project.
