Section Description

This special topic course will explore integrative health in the context of the patient/client management model, where physical therapists may collaborate with or refer to other health care practitioners to optimize patient health outcomes utilizing the principles of integrative health. We will examine specific integrative health disciplines and modalities including but not limited to tai chi, naturopathy, acupuncture, and mindfulness meditation. Reviews will investigate physiological, cognitive, and psychosocial processes and situations as part of clinical decision making to facilitate positive patient outcomes and enhance quality of life and well-being. The course will be complemented with experiential learning activities and invited guest practitioners from the community.
