Introduces non-business majors to the fundamentals of accounting, finance, marketing, operations, management, strategy. May be used by Business Administration minors to fulfill three credits of upper-level Business Administration electives. Prerequisites: Non-Business Administration major.

Asynchronous online

Section Description

This course is 100% asynchronous, which means that there is no meeting time, but submission of daily online assignments and readings are required. Whether you are buying a cup of coffee, watching the news, downloading music, or sleeping on a great mattress, transactions have to happen to make that all possible, as a result we are part of the business world every day. In this course, we will explore the world of business and how businesses are created, managed, and led. A variety of business concepts will be learned through reading an online textbook, watching videos, and participating in online discussions. Students will be encouraged to be better consumers, business owners, and employees.

Section Expectation

Course work and assignments are to be completed online daily and submitted by the due date.

Evaluation

Online discussions, multiple choice knowledge checks, and a final paper capstone of learning that occurs through students applying course material to create a board game that explains business to a target market. By creating a saleable product for a specific target audience, students will learn how to craft an idea, bring it to fruition, develop a plan, pitch their product, and make a prototype.
