    This space is intended to be a safe and joyful container in which Queer and Trans students, staff, and faculty can experience the power of mindfulness in community. You can expect a guided meditation, time for authentic sharing, and contemplative reflection on ways to thrive in this oppressive world. No meditation experience is required. This is a group led by Queer and Trans students who have completed the UVM Mindfulness Facilitator Training program.

  • CLAGS Jose Munoz Award: Alok Vaid-Menon (VIRTUAL)

    Alok Vaid-Menon is an internationally recognized author, poet, comedian, and public speaker who delves into trauma, belonging, and the human condition through their signature mixed-media artistry. A relentless advocate for LGBTQ rights, ALOK celebrates unbridled personal expression, dismantling traditional fashion norms and championing a culture of inclusivity and the celebration of unique identities. Join us for a conversation with ALOK and presentation of the Muñoz Award.

    The José Esteban Muñoz Award was created to honor an LGBTQ community leader or activist for their advocacy and promotion of LGBTQ Studies. José Esteban Muñoz was a pioneer in LGBTQ studies. He was the author and editor of several books that grappled with issues of race, gender, and sexuality including Cruising Utopia: The Politics and Performance of Queer Futurity and Disidentifications: Queers of Color and the Performance of Politics. He was also a professor and former Chair of the Department of Performance Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He passed away in December 2013.
