Celebrate Week of Welcome with a slice of cake in Howe Library on August 31 at 12:30 p.m.  

Coffee and Code 

Join the Libraries in the Center for Multimedia Development (CMD) Lab to chat about your R, SAS, SPSS or STATA project with your peers. Make sure to bring a mug to enjoy free coffee and treats. Join us for any of the six fall semester dates.   

Data Workshops 

Libraries’ data experts offer workshops on a range of statistical and data design topics.  

At the Data Design Lab, learn how to make your data visually interesting and easy to digest with a host of data visualization tools and software programs. 

Random Chats About Statistics are topical workshop sessions that expand an analyst’s understanding of all the steps in the data analysis process. 

Regardless of your level of data experience, join us to ask questions and connect. Attend one or all workshops. 

Panel Discussion: Where Do We Show Up in Our Nation’s Founding Documents? 

Fact: When the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence, Vermont did not exist. The area was called the New Hampshire Grants and was already embroiled in conflict with the colonies of New York and New Hampshire over land ownership and government jurisdiction. 

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, join Trina Magi, coordinator of Howe Library’s Map Room and Federal Depository Library Collection, as well as several other panelists to explore Vermont’s surprising history through original documents. 

Libraries Research Fair 

Pizza! Prizes! Experts! Giveaways! 

Stop by the Libraries’ Annual Research Fair and take your first step toward academic success. We’ve got a variety of subject experts (3D printing, virtual reality, podcasting, geographical information systems, special collections, data consulting, interlibrary loan) ready to connect with you on your next research project. Come for the pizza and stay for the connections. 

Exhibit: Farms to Plates 

Stop by the Silver Special Collections Gallery, Billings 201 M-F, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to explore items related to Vermont’s local food movement. The exhibit includes stories about new crops, publications promoting local food, cookbooks using local ingredients, and more. The exhibit closes on September 18, so don’t delay in stopping by. 

Book Spotlight: Welcome Catamount First Years 

Ease into life at UVM seamlessly with our book spotlight dedicated to all things college and Vermont. We’ve got a wide variety of books to help you unplug—from leisure reads about college students to nonfiction about Lake Champlain’s sea monster Champ to mental health guides; there’s something for everyone. Here are a few to look out for:
